BACKGROUND

Te Putahi means "The Centre" and comes from the Indigenous Maori language of New Zealand.

Te Wananga o Raukawa (TWOR) is a tertiary institution providing education for Maori by Maori. Te Putahi Whakawhiti Parongo (TPWP) is the centre of IT&T study established at TWOR to support its efforts to increase the uptake of IT&T amongst Maori.

TWOR continues to be a strong advocate for greater participation of Maori in the fields of IT&T. It supports the development of this site in recognition that the issues Maori face nationally are the same that Indigenous people face internationally. By us coming together and sharing our knowledge we can assist each other to forge a place for indigenous people in the IT&T sector.
